OUR STORY

2016 April – Namrata & Anu catching up over coffee; Anu has a background in social ventures and Namrata in business consulting and a passionate foodie. Anu is brainstorming ideas for skills training for girls who are differently abled – Namrata suggest that she teaches them cheesemaking

2016 August – Namrata starts training 2 girls with hearing impairment to make cheese. Over the month about 5 kinds of cheese are made and friends, families and fellow foodies are invited for a sampling

2016 September – Invited to participate in a pop-up event, that was only a week away; logo, website, stickers, packaging all done in a day!

2017 April – Kirke cheese pvt ltd is incorporated

2017 November – Retail launch in Chennai with two partners (a chain of organic stores & another a chain of artisan breads)

2018 April – The founders are awarded the Nari Shakti Purashkar by the President of India for their contribution towards empowering women

2019 August – We venture to markets beyond Chennai

THE FOUNDERS

Anuradha is a Social Entrepreneur with 2 decades of working experience in the social sector. She is an alumna of the prestigious goldman Sachs- ISB10000 women program and of the US visitor invitation program. With a background in Social work, she has been instrumental in setting up initiatives towards promoting employability of People with disabilities( PWD). She also heads Can Do, a skill development initiative for PWDs.

Anuradha

Namrata has a background in business consulting specializing in international trade & investment. Namrata travels to learn various traditional forms of cheesemaking and comes back to her Cheese studio to adapt it to local resources. She has spent time in the 100 years old highly awarded WestcombeDairy, Somerset to learn traditional Cheddar making. She is a student of David Asher, a well respected name in the field of Natural Cheesemaking and completed a cheesemaking course at The New American School of Farmstead, Vermont. More recently she completed Artisan Cheese & Sensory Fundamentals Professional Certificate from University of Vermont.
